Affirmation: I approve of who I am and that is enough.

Affirmation: I approve of who I am and that is enough.

Check out this week’s affirmation: I approve of who I am and that is enough.

Accepting the reality of your life sounds like it should be easy enough. But many, many people hold to their own version of reality. It may be based in regret, disappointment, denial, or just waiting for something better–a promotion, for the kids to be grown, retirement, whatever.

Failing to connect with reality is why some of us have pants in the closet that haven’t fit in years. More significantly, it keeps people in unfulfilling jobs or even in the wrong profession entirely.

There are few better things you can do for yourself than giving up the fictional version of your life and learning to accept yourself, your life, and your reality. Even if your situation is terrible, the first step in improving it is acknowledging it for what it is.

I approve of who I am and that is enough.

I am free from worrying about the approval of others. The opinions of others are outside of my control. I avoid spending time thinking about things that are beyond my influence.

I allow others to think whatever they like. I am too busy living my life to care.

I approve of myself. I live my life in a way that pleases me and fills me with pride. I live according to my values, so I am always comfortable with myself and my choices.

I avoid making decisions that would make me feel embarrassed or ashamed. I approve of myself and how I live my life.

That is enough for me.

I am focused on my own life. I am too focused to worry about what other people are doing, thinking, or saying. I know that most people have better things to do than to disapprove of me.

I am free to live my life as I please.

Today, I am giving myself all the approval I need to have a great day. I am living my best life and hoping that others are doing the same. I believe that my approval is all I need. I approve of who I am and that is enough.

Self-Reflection Questions:

1. What do I like the most about myself? What other qualities could I appreciate if I allowed myself to?

2. Am I concerned about the approval of others? If so, why? What does their approval do for me?

3. If others did disapprove of me, what impact does that have on my life? Is that relevant?

How to Fight Negative Thoughts and Feelings

Affirmation: I take one step at a time

Affirmation: I take one step at a time

Check out this week’s affirmation: I take one step at a time

We have all heard that we need to just take one step at a time. Focus on the next task in hand, take each day as it comes etc etc. But I want to highlight how important this really is and how we need to do just that. Affirmation: I take one step at a time

When you start something new, you can’t do everything all at once and then expect the journey to be over, we do one thing at a time. If you want to start going to the gym you can’t do all of your week’s workout in one session.

Don’t measure your success on what you have achieved, measure it on what steps you have taken towards your goal. If you were to take a step each day, at the end of each day you can be proud that you moved one step closer to your goal.

Be proud of those little achievements and then be even more prouder when you can look back and see how all those small actions added up into this amazing outcome. Affirmation: I take one step at a time

If we didn’t praise ourselves along our journey then we would lose all motivation before we even got close to our goals. We need to make sure we are giving ourselves a pat on the back each time we achieve something, anything.

I take one step at a time. Affirmation: I take one step at a time

A slow and steady approach keeps me happy and fulfilled.

I break big projects down into smaller tasks. I find a starting point. I identify one thing I can do now. I build momentum that carries me forward.

I set short term goals and celebrate my progress. I give myself something to strive for each day. I stay motivated even when my final destination is far away. I notice how my efforts pay off. I give myself credit for my strengths and accomplishments. My confidence grows.

I make small changes that add up to a big difference in the quality of my life.

I reduce stress by striking one low priority task off my to do list or spending a few moments each afternoon doing breathing exercises. Affirmation: I take one step at a time

I lose weight by skipping dessert or drinking water instead of sweetened beverages. I prepare lunch at home instead of ordering takeout. I put skim milk in my coffee rather than cream.

I develop closer relationships by scheduling standing dates for coffee with friends or initiating deep conversations with my partner.

I increase my job satisfaction by joining a committee at work or decorating my cubicle. I practice sharing constructive feedback or listening attentively.

I build financial security by saving some money out of each paycheck or cutting back on spending for entertainment and clothing. Affirmation: I take one step at a time

Today, I succeed by being patient and persevering. I turn my life around with one small victory at a time.

Self-Reflection Questions:

1. What happens when I try to push myself too hard?

2. How can I remind myself to slow down?

3. What is one challenge I want to focus on today?

Affirmation: I remain calm and present.

Check out this week’s affirmation: I remain calm and present. Affirmation: I remain calm and present.

Have you ever heard the saying “don’t let the future steal your present?” This statement is very powerful. Many of us could benefit from following this mantra as it teaches the importance of mindfulness.

If you have never heard of mindfulness before, it is the practice of being present in the moment (it is also the core of meditation practices and something one must master in order to become truly skilled at meditation). Affirmation: I remain calm and present.

By being present in the moment (and savoring the time leading up to it), you obtain a higher level of satisfaction, allow yourself to have a better experience, and feel more fulfilled as the event has not come and gone as quickly.

I remain calm and present. Affirmation: I remain calm and present.

In this world of distraction and chaos, I remain calm and present. I am grateful that I have learned how to keep my mind clear. I am proud of myself for removing excess distractions from my life.

I have learned how to calm down whenever I need to. Being present is my norm. When I remain calm and present, my world calms down around me.

I have learned to accept situations as they are. I am okay with just going with the flow. Affirmation: I remain calm and present.

With this greater perspective, my life is much smoother. I have less worrisome thoughts of the future as I stay in the present moment.

I start to enjoy the present moment.

I look for ways to enjoy the present moment even more. I notice the hue of the blue sky. I listen to the sounds of the birds. I feel the breeze on my face. All is well in my world.

Now that I am calm and present, others enjoy being with me more. I can be myself. I am more authentic. I am more grounded. Affirmation: I remain calm and present.

I am grateful that I am a stable source of energy for others.

I also enjoy being myself. Now that I have reduced the chatter in my head, my head has more head room. I have space to create new ideas. I have space to listen to my inner guidance that speaks with a still, small voice. Affirmation: I remain calm and present.

Today, I am calm. I am present. I am at peace.

Affirmation: I make my own luck

Affirmation: I make my own luck

Check out this week’s affirmation: I make my own luck.

“Luck Is What Happens When Preparation Meets Opportunity” This quote, attributed to Roman philosopher Seneca, reminds us that we make our own luck. The difference between lucky and unlucky people, we’ve seen before, is all in our perspective.

Luck isn’t just about being at the right place at the right time, but also about being open to and ready for new opportunities. Affirmation: I make my own luck

Lucky people generate their own good fortune via four basic principles. They are skilled at creating and noticing chance opportunities, make lucky decisions by listening to their intuition, create self-fulfilling prophesies via positive expectations, and adopt a resilient attitude that transforms bad luck into good.

I make my own luck. Affirmation: I make my own luck

I am ready to stand in my own power and create my own reality.

I realize that luck is just a state of mind. When I recognize that I am a lucky person, then luck sticks to me.

When I acknowledge that I am a powerful creator, then luck flows to me. Affirmation: I make my own luck

I know that luck is just an early word for the law of attraction. I am very aware of the fact that “like attracts like”. I embrace this belief. I live this belief.

I love to attract the perfect parking spot. I like to play games with myself that empower my luck. The more I believe that I am lucky, the more that becomes the case.

I throw out any thoughts that are to the contrary. I attract only happy thoughts. I raise my happiness quotient. The state of happiness definitely increases my luck. Affirmation: I make my own luck

I am a lucky leprechaun. I see the rainbow and know there is a pot of gold at the end. I see all the bright and shiny opportunities and I seize them.

I believe in me.

Today, I see myself as a person who attracts wealth of all kinds. I am wealthy in friendships, family relationships, and love. I know that all else is just added to that. Money is a bonus. Affirmation: I make my own luck
