Author, Speaker, Hypnotherapist, Coach- Norman Plotkin spent 25 years in Sacramento as a consultant and lobbyist working in, around and for the California State Legislature. He represented fortune 500 companies and trade associations in the medical, automotive, energy and petroleum industries.

Surviving cancer in his forties his journey awakened in him a desire to be in service to others and opened his eyes to the notion that sometimes tragedy through the right lens can be seen as a gift.

Now practicing Hypnotherapy in Sacramento, CA, Norm has an emphasis in medical and dental hypnotherapy as well as habit control and stress management, among other issues.

Episode 177: Ayanna Parrent: Getting well through movement mindfulness and fun

Ayanna is the Owner and Founder of B FREE Coaching and Wellness- a wellness community designed to change people’s lives through movement mindfulness and fun!

Ayanna Parrent is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, Certified School Adjustment Counselor, and certified Fitness Instructor in multiple group fitness areas. She is originally from the Boston area, received her Master’s degree of social work at Simmons College and is in the process of completing her advanced graduate degree at Simmons as well.

Her Social Work background and professional career has been providing therapeutic support to students and children in public, charter, private and therapeutic schools. She also has had experience in leading, supervising staff and overseeing programs in her role as assistant principal at The Gifford School and Program Director of The Therapeutic Mentor Program at The Mentor Network in Hyannis. She had the opportunity to supervise 20 therapeutic mentors in the community of Cape Cod in her role at the Mentor Network.

Ayanna became a certified Zumba instructor in the spring of 2010 and has since fallen in love with the fitness world. She went on to become certified in Kids Zumba, Zumba Toning, Aqua fitness, Yoga 200 RYT, Y12SR Yoga, Spinning, Cize Live and Pound Fitness. She has created Are & Be Soul Yoga.

Ayanna attributes her daily practice of yoga and meditation and strong connection with the body and spirit to her ability to stay inspired and help others. Her passion to is to work with others in recovery from addictions, trauma, hopelessness, depression, anxiety, eating disorders and other issues through using the tools of mindfulness, movement and fun.

Ayanna’s studio, current classes and services are held within the Dream Studios building in Yarmouth. She is originally from the Boston area and has been living on the Cape since 2011, with her husband, two teenage step sons and 6-year-old daughter adopted through DCF.
